Aaron Jeansonne To JTR Motorsports Engineering For 2023 MX-5 Cup Season

DAYTONA BEACH, Florida — December 20, 2022

JTR Motorsports Engineering will be adding 2022 NASA Spec Miata National Champion and 2020 MX-5 Cup Shootout Winner Aaron Jeansonne to their strong driver lineup as he enters his third season of MX-5 Cup racing.

It has been quite the year for JTR. After a 2021 season that showed the team’s front-running potential, 2022 was really a breakout year for the team as they earned several wins, poles, and the season championship.

"We are very excited to have Aaron on our team for the 2023 season. He is a very talented driver on and off the track and we look forward to a successful 2023 together."

After two seasons in the IMSA series, Jeansonne has shown a race-winning pace with plenty of strong runs but hasn’t yet had all of the puzzle pieces come together to be in the championship battle. In season three, his sight’s set on the $250,000 championship prize.

“There is nothing like the thrill and challenge of MX-5 Cup racing. With such a deep talent pool and cars built to spec, it is the fine details that make the difference. There are so many variables in this series, and as a driver, all you can do is minimize them and give yourself the best chances to win. The whole operation at JTR has been extremely impressive — I think their knowledge, prep, and attention to detail are what sets them apart. I believe I am in the right place and that Jared and my other teammates will make great teammates on and off track”

Jeansonne continues, I couldn’t be happier than to continue racing at such a high level. I couldn’t do it without the support of my partners. Thank you to the Wings and Wheels Foundation and all other partners and contributors that have helped get our 2023 efforts off the ground.

Norma Unser, Executive Director at Wings and Wheels Foundation, states “We are so proud and thrilled to continue to support Aaron, he is the epitome of the Wings and Wheels Foundation Mission”

The Idemitsu Mazda MX-5 Cup presented by BFGoodrich is set to kick off January 25-27 at the Rolex 24 event at Daytona International Speedway for the first of its seven-event schedule.
